Module 1: Drilling Operations & Well Architecture

Mastering drilling mechanics and well integrity from spud to completion. This module provides a deep dive into the mechanical and operational heartbeat of the rigsite, focusing on how to optimize drilling performance while maintaining maximum safety standards. Participants will gain a holistic understanding of well construction, enabling them to bridge the gap between engineering design and floor operations. We emphasize proactive risk management to significantly reduce Non-Productive Time (NPT) during critical phases.

Comprehensive well architecture: From initial design to casing and cementing operations.
Drilling fluids management: In-depth study of mud systems, functions, and properties.
Directional drilling: Mastering trajectories, MWD measurements, and specialized equipment.
Coring techniques: Conventional and Side Wall Coring (SWC) recovery and equipment.
Drilling hazards: Advanced protocols for anticipating and solving sticking and fishing issues.

Module 2: Mud Logging Excellence

Advanced monitoring for maximum safety and real-time data accuracy. In modern drilling, the Mud Logging unit acts as the nervous system of the operation, providing the critical data needed for split-second decisions. This course trains participants to master the entire data acquisition chain, ensuring that every sensor reading translates into actionable intelligence. By focusing on the synergy between mechanical parameters and geological indicators, we empower crews to detect early warning signs and maintain perfect well balance.

Data acquisition chains: Full mastery of sensor technology and signal transmission.
Real-time monitoring: In-depth analysis of mechanical (WOB, RPM, Torque) and hydraulic parameters.
Pressure evaluation: Advanced pore pressure detection and mud weight estimation.
Well balance management: Expert handling of the mud window, including gains and losses detection.
Hydrocarbon gas analysis: Fundamentals of gas interpretation and safety barriers.

Module 3: Well Logging & Interpretation

This module focuses on the transition from raw downhole measurements to reliable reservoir characterization, with a heavy emphasis on Quality Control (QC). Participants will learn to lead logging operations with the confidence needed to validate data integrity before making multi-million dollar completion decisions.

Supervision of operations: Leading Wireline and LWD/MWD campaigns with operational efficiency.
The Logging Toolbox: Physics and application of Caliper, Gamma-Ray, Resistivity, Neutron, Density, and Sonic logs.
Data Quality Control (QC): Rigorous validation protocols to ensure log accuracy and reliability.
Quicklook Interpretation: Identifying lithology, fluid types, and calculating saturation levels on the fly.
Advanced Imaging: Introduction to image logs for structural and sedimentological analysis.

Module 4: Wellsite Geology & Operations

Precision geological operations and critical decision-making at the rigsite. The Wellsite Geologist is the final gatekeeper of geological truth, responsible for turning rock fragments and gas readings into a coherent sub-surface model. This module prepares geologists to handle the intense pressure of “live” operations, from determining the exact core-point to managing complex hydrocarbon chromatography. We provide the tools to ensure that every geological observation adds direct value to the drilling program and the final well report.

Operational leadership: Mastering the roles, responsibilities, and reporting standards of a Wellsite Geologist.
Gas chromatography: Advanced interpretation of hydrocarbon gas composition and ratios.
Core processing: Expert management of reassembling, measurement, sampling, and core-point decision making.
Geological logging: Professional methodology for creating high-standard lithological logs.
Drilling-Geology integration: Using ROP and mechanical data to refine geological interpretations.
